Shopping trip to Nike Expo Sale

I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to the Nike Expo Sale or not. I searched for blog posts on the sale and they were generally negative. People complained about the crowd and the queues. They also complained about the selection available. But one post did mention sports bras. I was still undecided, because I also had other things to do and going for this sale would have taken up perhaps 2 hours of what precious time I had. But then I thought that it was rare for Nike to have such sales. Plus this time it was actually at a relatively convenient location. It was decided. I would go to the sale.

I reached at around 10am and already there was a stream of people heading in. For crowd control purposes, there were barriers set up in a snaking manner, so everyone there had to take a long walk before entering the sales area.

There were some booths selling shoes and apparel. But there were only a limited selection there. At the centre was where the action was. There were bins selling apparel and other things. Unfortunately I didn't see any sports bras at all. I browsed the tops, going from the "L/XL" to "S/M" bins and back. It was still a strange feeling rummaging the bins among other women, some of them possibly around my age. But seriously, no one seemed to care.

I was disappointed that there weren't any sports bras, but I didn't want to make a wasted trip down. Plus the apparel were really cheap - $20 each. I first picked out a nice light blue racerback tank top. But it seemed too similar to what I already had. Next I picked out a pink spag top.

A bit more digging and I found a nice t-shirt. It was the long type, which was something I had been looking out for, because most tops, especially those by sports brands, tend to be short, probably to suit the smaller Asian build.

I didn't want to buy so many tops, because I have really limited storage space (I need to sell off some of my clothes), so I compared the tops I picked. I saw that the tank top was shorter than the spag top, so I decided to return the tank top to the bin. I took a final look around and went to pay up.

All in all, a good trip. The tops fit me pretty well, especially the t-shirt. Pictures when I'm free ;)

Shopping trip!

I had this gnawing itch to shop, and my schedule allowed me to do some shopping today. On my list: pink FBT shorts in a smaller size if I can fit, a ladies' running top if it was suitable for actually wearing out for a run, and NewFeel pantyliners if the promo was still on. The Giant I went to the last time seemed to have limited range of FBT, so I tried this other outlet first, which, from the last time I went, had a better selection. Since I wanted to buy a top to actually use, I needed to make sure I could wear my sports bra inside without it being seen. This meant I would be wearing my sports bra out today.

The promo for the shorts was still on, but there were only very few left, and in bright colours, which meant trying them on would be out of the question (too obviously feminine). When I browsed the tops, I realised that the men's and ladies' FBT apparel were placed on racks that were back to back to each other, forming a partition between the men's and ladies' section in the store. Previously they were on the same rack. I browsed between sections and picked a men's M, and ladies' L and XL. The ladies' XL fit quite well. My sports bra could not be seen at the sides, thanks to the smaller arm hole. The front was a little fitting, so the outline of the bra was slightly visible, but I thought with a darker coloured top, I could hide it. Actually it was the back of the bra that was exposed a little at the neck. The length felt ok, but since I didn't take shorts into the fitting room, I wasn't too sure. What was surprising was that the men's M was actually tight at the chest, and as I had expected, the large arm holes exposed the sports bra. I headed back to the rack and tried as casually as possible to place the tops back. Then I picked out a suitable colour. I would have preferred black with white lines, but there weren't any in my size. I didn't have much of a choice, so I picked a dark blue and black one. The tops were the usual price, and cost $13.89 each.

I decided to check out the lingerie section because I wanted to see if there were any kids' bra I could get. It was rather unnerving because I was within sight of a sales promoter (of some other product). I saw a cute one, and it said 36", but looked so much smaller than 36". Surprisingly though, they actually make kids' bras in 38" now. I picked one out and put it in my shopping basket and beat a hasty retreat from the lingerie section. My final stop was to the feminine care section. The NewFeel promo was still on, so I picked a pack of pantyliners for $2.90.

After paying, I went to the restroom to try on the bra, which seemed to fit quite nicely. I might even be able wear it out under my normal clothes.

Next, I headed to the other Giant. I headed straight for the bin with the FBT shorts and searched for a dark colour in size M and S. Most were M and L, but I finally found an S and went to the fitting room to try them on. In the fitting room, I saw that the S one was a straight cut, not the curve cut. I was surprised that I could fit in it, and decided to get the S. To be sure, I went to the rack and picked out a curve cut in S to try on. I liked it, so returned back to the rack and picked a pink one in S.

Later I looked around and found the ladies' section of FBT apparel. And with the colour I preferred more: black with white stripe. If I'd discovered this rack that day, I would have bought my top from this outlet instead.

This was a fun and fruitful shopping trip! I just loved trying on clothes at the store and knowing that I would be able to fit in them, instead of "gambling" and trying them on after buying.

Shopping trip

I was running out of pads, so I had been looking out for any promos. I wanted to try Kotex or Laurier, since I had not tried those, but they were all selling at the usual price (those discounts only appear when I don't need to get any). Yesterday, I went to Giant to take a look, and saw that NewFeel pads were on promotion, at about $1 off the usual price. The twin-pack was even cheaper, but I didn't have enough space for two packs, so I bought one pack of NewFeel Overnight Soft Wings (same as the last time).

Giant was also having promo on FBT shorts at $8.71, over $2 off the usual price of $10.89. I couldn't decide between black or pink, but in the end, I went for black, because it was a more generic colour, and something I might actually wear out for a run.

The shorts are really comfortable. No wonder they are the craze among girls here. I bought it in L size, which is decent enough for me to actually wear for a run (it is smaller than my current running shorts though). I just might get another smaller one in pink. ;)

Back? Maybe...

Well, my mother is back at work, and I'm back to cross-dressing again. I don't know how long this will last, but for now, I'm back. :)

Shopping trip

I really love going to Royal Sporting House at Suntec. Seems like my current craze is with sports wear, and I like browsing the various apparel. The only really unfortunate thing is that the tops are usually more suited to the smaller Asian build, so the tops are mostly too short for me. Which is a pity, really, because I would like some T-shirts.

Due to poor planning on my part, because I went to Royal Sporting House on my way to another appointment, I didn't have much time to browse. There was a bin of really cheap Reebok apparel, like a dance dress at $12.90. I saw a nice sports bra, but it was labelled at $46.90, which I think is a mistake since another top of the same design and range was tagged much lower. There was another one I saw which was $23.90, and I was tempted to buy it. Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush, and there was a queue at the cashier, so I decided to pass.

Next, I went to nearby Carrefour to check out prices of the FBT apparel. I saw the top that I had seen online, and the material was indeed the thicker type (some of the FBT tops are very thin), and was going for $13.90. The shorts with the Dri-Fit type material (FBT calls it CoolQuik) was also the same price. I'll keep it in mind if I decide to buy. But I don't think it would be so soon. No point buying clothes if I can't wear them.

As a bonus, here's a shot of myself wearing the chemise I bought in September:

Do let me know if you like it :)
